Security officer holds armed woman at Dunkin Donuts gunpoint
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M July 9 2017 A disturbance at a local Dunkin Donuts shop turned violent when a woman went to her vehicle and retrieved a handgun according to police.
It happened early Friday morning at the Dunkin Donuts near the University of New Mexico.
According to a criminal complaint, Rita Howlingcrane started yelling at people inside the donut shop and began to threaten people. She then went to her car and got a gun and pointed it at several persons inside the donut shop.
Police say that’s when a security officer pulled his firearm and was able to hold her at gunpoint until police got on scene.
Howlingcrane was arrested on numerous charges and appeared in court Saturday and the state has requested she be held without bond until trial.
The handgun that she had was found to be stolen.
Howlingcrane was also previously convicted of child abuse.
Police did not report any injuries.
