Security officer hospitalized after being stabbed by shoplifter
CHICAGO, IL June 1 2018 – A security guard remains in stable condition at Holy Cross Hospital after police say he was stabbed while trying the detain a shoplifting suspect Tuesday afternoon.
Police in the 6th District say the victim, a 42-year-old man, was stabbed in the right leg at 3:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 79th Street by a 38-year old man he was attempting to detain.
The suspect is in custody, according to police. Police did not immediately identify him.
Police did not identify the name of the store.
