Security Officer, Shoplifter, Dead in Maryland Shoplifting Incident
Oxon Hill MD November 4th, 2022 The Prince George’s County Police Department is on the scene of a double fatal shooting Friday morning at an Oxon Hill grocery store.
Police said they responded to a Giant in the 20 block of Audrey Lane in Oxon Hill around 10:25 a.m. for the report of a shooting.
When they arrived, officers found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.
Police said that the woman was inside the grocery attempting to shoplift when she was approached by a male security officer.
The woman pulled a gun from her backpack and fired at the security officer.
The security officer returned fire and both were shot and killed.
She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later and the man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
The shooting happened in the front lobby of the grocery store.
Officials say they don’t know what the woman was trying to take.
Police said it’s an “isolated incident and there is no danger to the community.”
