Security officer shot at Memphis high school in critical condition

A security officer was rushed to the hospital after being shot at a Memphis high school Tuesday morning, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
The man was shot around 7:20 a.m. outside of Freedom Prep Academy Westwood on Parkrose Road and rushed to Regional One in critical condition said.
Police said that man was in critical condition.
The victim, identified as a 36-year-old male, was shot during some type of altercation.
Neighbors said they believe the victim was shot in the face while at his car, but this has not yet been confirmed by MPD.
Police say five black males in a burgundy sedan are responsible.
The school released the following statement:
We are deeply saddened to hear about today’s incident. At Freedom Preparatory Academy, maintaining the safety of our faculty, staff, students and families is an absolute top priority. Our security guard is receiving proper medical attention, and our leadership team is assisting the Memphis Police Department with their investigation. As we know more, we will keep our staff and families closely updated.
Residents who heard the shooting said they are left in confusion about how their community became the backdrop to the crime scene. They said that something must change to prevent crimes in the area.
