Little Rock AR October 24 2018
A security officer hit a woman with a piece of raw meat that the woman stole from a Little Rock grocery store, authorities said.
The 42-year-old officer told police he was working security at Shopper Value Foods, 6800 Colonel Glenn Road, when he noticed a woman enter the store with an empty purse about 4 p.m. Sunday.
When she tried to leave with a purse full of meat valued at $50, the man asked to look inside, according to a report from the Little Rock Police Department. The woman then punched him in the face and ran outside the store.
Police wrote that the officer followed her into the parking lot and grabbed her purse. The shoplifter released her bag and turned around holding a pocket knife, the report states.
She dropped the knife when the officer hit her with a piece of meat that had been in her purse, police wrote, noting the woman then took off running down Colonel Glenn Road.
The shoplifter is described as a black woman standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds.
