Security officers detain woman in stabbing of taxi driver
Elizabeth AU Aug 27 2018 A woman who allegedly used a knife to stab a taxi driver after refusing to pay a fare has been arrested and charged at a busy northern suburb shopping centre.
Police and emergency services were called to Elizabeth Shopping Centre on Oxenham Drive after reports of a stabbing just before 11.30am.
When patrols arrived, they found a man with stab wounds to his hand and forearm.
The victim was working as a taxi driver and dropped the woman to the shopping centre. When she didn’t pay, the diver confronted her and was stabbed, police say.
Security officers detained the woman until police could make the arrest.
The victim was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
A 22-year-old woman from the Clare region has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm.
She was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
