In Fresno California, a fatal shooting by a private security guard has now been classified as a homicide.
Police were called to the fatal shooting involving a private security officer and question the need for lethal force.
Police responded to calls of a shooting at the Best Western near Fresno Street and Shaw Avenue just after 11 PM Friday. When they arrived a security guard told officers he shot and killed a homeless man who attacked him.
An innocent bystander was also caught in the crossfire.
The security guard told police he was making his usual rounds when he came across the homeless man. “The security guard is claiming that he had to shoot the transient out of self-defense,” says Fresno Police Lt. Israel Reyes. “Our homicide detectives have conducted interviews and their investigation does not show the necessity of this level of force.
When the security guard opened fire, a stray bullet hit a 33-year-old man in the arm, who was in a nearby parking lot.
In Chicago, an armored vehicle employee filling an ATM machine came under attack during a robbery and returned fire.
The armored truck crew exchanged gunfire with the robbery suspect according to police.

In San Antonio Texas, a man is in serious condition after he was shot after trying to choke a security guard at a gentleman’s club on the Northwest Side.
The shooting happened at 2:35 a.m., Saturday, at the Perfect 10 Mens Club, located in the 100 block of NW Loop 410.
A 26-year-old man tried to go back inside of the club but was denied by security and was escorted out again.
The man then grabbed a female security guard and tried to choke her, according to police. That’s when another security guard got the man off of the woman and then pointed his taser at him.
The man pulled a handgun and the security guard deployed his taser, but it had no effect, authorities said.
As the man continued to aim his handgun at the guard, the security guard also drew his own handgun and told the man to drop his weapon, according to police.
The man refused and he was shot in the torso by the security guard, officials said. The man then fled the scene in a vehicle as police arrived, who had heard gunshots fired in the area and responded.
Officials said the man drove away before crashing over a high curb behind a strip mall. He was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.
Security officers in Florida also shot another man during a confrontation at an apartment complex. He is in stable condition.
