Security officer critically injured when suspect’s car crashes through gate at Renton Boeing
RENTON, Wash. April 10 2018 – A Boeing security officer was critically hurt when he was struck by a car being chased by police that crashed through a gate at Boeing’s Renton plant.
The incident began when an employee at the nearby Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park was assaulted by a suspect who then fled in a Toyota MR2, according to Renton police. The employee was not hurt.
Renton police said they believe the attack was random.
Police pursued the suspect, who struck other vehicles and then crashed through a secured Boeing gate at Logan Avenue North and North Sixth Street Monday morning.
A 40-year-old man, identified as an on-duty security officer who was hit by the vehicle was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
Renton fire says the suspect was also injured in the crash. That person has been detained by police.
