Several arrested after deputy assaulted while working security at Houston restaurant
HOUSTON TX — A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy was assaulted while working a security detail at a Houston restaurant and bar, authorities said.
According to HCSO, the officer was off-duty and working a side job at Forget Me Not on Washington Avenue when he saw a woman needing medical attention and stepped in to assist her.
While attending to the situation, several men jumped the officer from behind and began assaulting him, authorities said.
The officer suffered multiple scrapes and bite injuries, HCSO said. A security guard at the restaurant reportedly helped the deputy during the assault.
Houston Police Department officers responded and made four arrests at the scene. The individuals arrested are expected to face assault charges.
HCSO said the investigation is ongoing.
