Shoplifter dies in police pursuit after threatening security agent with knife

Shoplifters fled a Menard’s store on St. Charles Rock Road after stealing merchandise and threatening a security agent with a knife.
Police soon caught up with them and the shoplifters led officers on a pursuit that ended with one person dead and three others injured.
Police said that the chase resulted in a crash in Breckenridge Hills Saturday evening.
Police saw the red car with the suspects leaving Menard’s and began the chase at around 6:30 p.m.
The chase lasted only 30 seconds when the suspect’s red car crashed into a black car. The driver of the red car is dead and the driver of the black car is also injured, police said.
The crash happened on St. Charles Rock Rd near Lynntown Drive.
Police did not say what was taken at the store or if the security guard was injured.
