Shoplifter threatens Fred Meyer store l.p. agent with knife
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. Dec 18 2020— A man was arrested after stealing from a Fred Meyer and threatening an employee with a knife, police said.
Springfield Police officers responded to the Fred Meyer store at 650 Q St. after reports a robbery had just occurred there.
Police said Calin Bocock, 35, of Springfield entered the store and began hiding items in a bag and inside his coat before trying to leave without paying. When confronted by a Fred Meyer loss-prevention employee outside the store, Bobock waved a knife as the employee tried to recover the stolen property and arrest him. Bocock ran away before authorities arrived.
A K-9 police officer found Bocock two blocks away hiding behind another business. Officers said he tried to run away and evade arrest, but the police dog apprehended Bocock and he was taken into custody.
Bocock was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree theft, menacing, and resisting arrest and was also taken into custody on a felony arrest warrant.
