Shoplifter tried to flee form Carson’s loss prevention agent
Norridge IL Feb 19 2018 A 27-year-old Chicago man was charged Feb. 6 with retail theft and arrested on a warrant after Norridge police were dispatched to Carson’s at 4200 N. Harlem Ave. Daniel DeJesus Jr., of the 2500 block of North Harding Avenue, is due in court April 2.
The officer was dispatched at 4:17 p.m.
A loss prevention associate told police DeJesus entered the store and selected a men’s jacket and a pair of pants, then proceeded down the escalator to the first level.
While going down the escalator, the loss prevention associate said, he concealed the items in a shopping bag. Once outside the first-floor entrance, police said the agent attempted to stop DeJesus, who began to run.
He was stopped by security and escorted into the store where the merchandise was recovered, the loss prevention associate said.
The value of the merchandise was $141.67. At the police station, DeJesus was processed and charged with retail theft and for contempt of court based on a warrant issued for his arrest by Cook County.
