Shoplifters charged with assaulting security personnel
Laredo TX Feb 5 2022 A shoplifting incident turned robbery landed four females behind bars, according to Laredo police.
Laredo police officers responded to a shoplifting report at about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 5300 block of San Dario Avenue.
Security personnel stated that they attempted to detain four suspected shoplifters. The females began to resist and started running toward the parking lot, police said.
Security personnel detained three people while another female suspect made it to a Jeep and fled the scene. The driver of the Jeep attempted to hit a security guard before escaping, according to police. But the guard was unharmed.
The driver was identified as a 16-year-old girl. She was detained later that evening.
Authorities identified the four suspects as Evelyn Hogan Navarro, 31, a 13-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl and the 16-year-old girl.
Hogan Navarro was charged with robbery while the three juveniles were charged with robbery and assault on a security guard. The 16-year-old was additionally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for attempting to hit the security guard.
Hogan Navarro was taken to the Webb County Jail while the juveniles were taken to the Webb County Youth Village.
