More than 275 benefactors joined the Sisters of Providence for a dinner and award presentation during the 19th annual Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Dinner on June 8 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
The dinner in the O’Shaughnessy Dining Room at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College honors donors for their gifts of time, talent and resources, and includes presentations of the Queen Amelia, Sarah and Joseph Thralls, and the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Companion awards.
This year, members of the Sisters of Providence security staff and four individuals received the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Companion award. This award was established in honor of Sisters St. Vincent Ferrer, Basilide Seneschal, Olympiade Boyer, Mary Xavier Leree and Mary Ligouri Tiercin, the five sister companions who supported Mother Theodore and remained by her side assisting her as needed while offering their own wisdom and perseverance to advance the mission.
Sister Lisa Stallings said the staff work around the clock to ensure the safety of all those who visit and live on the grounds at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
“This group of dedicated individuals, men and women, work 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, and in all types of weather in service to the Sisters of Providence and staff, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College students, their parents and their staff,” Sister Lisa said.
“This staff exemplifies the qualities of each of Mother Theodore’s five companions: Passion for mission; positive outlook and zeal; readiness to step up for every task – great or small; willingness to step out of their comfort zone with faith, hope and love and commitment to moving forward the mission in everything they say and do,” Sister Lisa added.
