Sixty Days In: 17 Security Officers Murdered 21 Others Shot

Sixty days into the year and sixty-seven security officers have died on duty.
And there has been an unusually high number of lethal force usage by security officers during the same period.
During the months of January and February, Seventeen Security Officers Were Murdered while on duty.
All but two died from gunfire.
Five officers were shot repeatedly by their attackers.
Thirty-eight others have died from the Coronavirus during the first two months of the year.
Three other security officers died in vehicle accidents, three others died from unknown causes, one officer drowned, and five security officers died on duty as a result of a medical emergency.
Twenty-one other security officers were shot while on duty and six remain hospitalized.
During this time there were over thirty times when a security officer used a firearm to defend himself.
In at least six of those shootings, police charged the security officer with murder, and currently, nineteen shooting incidents remain open and under investigation.
