South Mountain Community College security officers arrest men in golf cart theft
PHOENIX AZ June 26 2018 – College security officers captured three suspects accused of stealing a golf cart from a nearby golf course.
Phoenix police report that on June 18, three 19-year-olds were arrested for stealing a golf cart from the Legacy Golf Course near 24th Street and Baseline Road.
Police say, Jamal John Thomas, Rene Edwardo Anzures, and Rashad Jamere Griffis took a golf cart worth about $8,000 from the club.
Police alerted security officers at the nearby South Mountain Community College to be on the lookout for the stolen cart.
Police say all three took turns driving the cart during their hour-long joyride.
Campus police located the stolen cart with all three teens on board. When they were spotted, the teens ran away but were soon caught.
One of the suspects reportedly told police that they stole the cart because they were bored.
All three teens have been charged with theft.
