ST. Joseph MO October 27 2019
Police and EMS was called to the St. Joseph High School Thursday for a shooting.
Police said that a private security officer’s firearm accidentally discharged while patrolling the school according to a letter sent home to parents.
The security officer needed medical attention and was taken to an area hospital.
The letter stated the school contracts with VSS Security to conduct patrols of the campus, but they are not allowed to have firearms during the patrols.
Police and school officials are investigating this shooting incident because school security officers are not supposed to carry firearms.
The letter stated the security officer involved will no longer be able to patrol the high school.
