St Lucia security officer attacked, injured in assault
St Lucia March 14 2018 A security guard was left battered and bloodied after he was attacked by two men while on the job last week.
According to well-placed sources, the security officer was stationed at the outer perimeter of the La Toc Golf Course when a young man approached and was attempting to access a water fountain made available for guests of the golf course.
The security officer advised against it and was verbally assaulted by the young man who also threatened him.
The guard had a K9 with him which he released. The dog chased the intruder towards the edge of the perimeter.
The young man later returned to the location with his brother (both individuals are reported to be known to police).
One of the two was said to have a cutlass. They were both threatening the security officer again.
The security officer attempted to retreat when both men started throwing stones at him.
One of the stones hit him in the back of the neck as he ran, causing him to fall face first onto the concrete walkway where he sustained severe injuries to his face.
The officer is reported to have been later found by landscaping technicians in an unconscious state and was taken to main security outpost before being transported to the Victoria Hospital for treatment. He was admitted for observation and underwent CT scan as well as chest and face X-rays.
A photo obtained by St Lucia Times, which is too graphic to publish, shows the security officer with a gaping hole in the forehead and blood streaming down his face.
The security has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at his home.
