St. Lucia Times Male Intruder Dead After Incident With Guard At R.G Quarry
St Lucia May 4 2020
A male intruder is dead after a confrontation with a Security Guard at R.G Quarry at Cul de Sac.
“This morning at 3.24, I got a call from the police,’ Quarry owner Rayneau Gajadhar told St Lucia Times.
Gajadhar recalled that the police told him there was an incident at the quarry.
He said according to the police, someone had broken into the canteen and the security guard had an altercation with the intruder who was later unresponsive.
“I immediately left home and went down to the site, but there was an ambulance there – I was only able to say a few words to the security guy,” Gajadhar stated.
The Saint Lucia businessman said the security guard told him that dogs alerted him to the presence of the intruder.
“When he walked up to the guy, the guy threw a piece of steel at him and he tackled the guy,” Gajadhar said.
He said the security guard was already in the ambulance which was ready to leave, so the discussion was brief.
Gajadhar said he did not see who the intruder was because the police did not allow him near the scene.
He said the security guard sustained lacerations to the head.
Gajadhar said a relative of the injured man reported that he received over 50 stitches.
“He always has his cutlass,” he said of the injured guard.
The quarry owner explained that sometimes the ‘float’ is left in the canteen cash register.
He revealed that someone had broken into the canteen a few days before.
“We have some of the footage on the camera but we never made a report, however the guy saw it fit to come back again – I am assuming it is the same guy, and they caught him this time,” Gajadhar stated.
A police report on the incident said law enforcers got a call about 2:45 am and on arrival at a business in Cul de Sac found the body of an unknown male, along with a security guard.
Both had apparent cutlass wounds, a law enforcement official said.
It is alleged that the male attacked the security guard who happened to notice him inside the business.
The door had a broken padlock, it was reported.
A struggle is said to have ensued between the intruder and the guard with the guard disarming the former.
Both were taken to hospital where the intruder was pronounced dead.
