Startled by security officer, man crashes into Hartford Hospital ER
Hartford CT Feb 21 2018 A man who was startled by a security guard while sitting in his car outside Hartford Hospital’s emergency room Monday night accidentally hit the gas pedal and crashed into the building, police said.
The crash happened shortly before 7:45 p.m. outside the emergency entrance of the hospital at 80 Seymour St., they said. No one was injured.
According to police, the driver was waiting outside the ER for a family member when a security worker knocked on his window. The driver inadvertently stepped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to surge forward, breaking glass in the waiting room.
The crash did not compromise the building’s structural integrity, police said.
