Store security officer stabbed by shoplifter
Dartmouth Canada Aug 6 2017 A grocery store security guard was stabbed on Friday afternoon in Dartmouth while apprehending a suspected shoplifter.
Halifax Regional Police say the guard arrested a 16-year-old boy for stealing food at the No Frills store at 118 Wyse Rd. at about 5:30 p.m. As the guard was bringing the young man to the office, he turned and stabbed the guard in the abdomen.
The young man then ran away, but police officers on patrol in the area soon found and arrested him.
The guard was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with non-life-threatening injuries.
The young man is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
