“Suicide by Security Officer”
Henderson NV January 4 2019
A shooting at the Green Valley Ranch Casino and Resort may now have been a case of a suicide plot or suicide by cop according to police.
Lt. Kirk Moore with the Henderson Police Department said that a man stormed into the lobby area on January 1 at around 3:30 pm. and security confronted him and a confrontation ensued.
The man, at the point, pulled a handgun and two of the three security officers pulled their firearms and fired and killed the man.
Now, new information shows that the man, who police are not identifying, had a suicide in his pocket.
The gun that he carried, only had one bullet in the magazine.
It looks like a case of suicide by cop a retired police officer told us.
Lori Nelson, vice president of corporate communications at Station Casinos provided the following statement:
We’re grateful that our security team responded to this situation in a way which ensured the safety of our guests and team members. We’re very appreciative of Henderson Police Department’s assistance immediately after the incident and, as always, we will work cooperatively with them as part of any ongoing investigation.
The security officers are employees of Station Casinos which owns the Green Valley Casino and they were not injured.
This is not the first time that someone has pushed a security officer into using lethal force and later the investigation revealed that it was “suicide by cop”.
Private Officer International has recorded six similar incidents during the past three years.
