Suspect dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound at BWI airport, police say
Baltimore MD June 19 2021 A suspect in a domestic incident in Howard County died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a long standoff at Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport, authorities said.
The suspect was found in a vehicle in a parking garage at the airport and died after an eight-hour standoff that lasted until about 6:40 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the Howard County police.
Negotiators had spoken with the suspect during the standoff, the MDTA police said.
There was never a threat to public safety, they said.
Howard police said the domestic incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. in the Hanover area.
One person was evaluated at a hospital afterward and released, they said.
