Suspect in murder of MS security guard captured
VICKSBURG, Miss. Jan 28 2021
The man accused in the October 2020 shooting death of a man at LD’s Kitchen in Vicksburg has been arrested after a three-month search.
James Earl Winters, 29, was arrested by the Vicksburg Police Department, with help from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, after executing a warrant at an address on Los Colinas Drive shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Winters has been on the run since the shooting on Oct. 6, 2020, when police say he shot and killed Wade Carter, Jr., 31, in the parking lot of LD’s Kitchen on Mulberry Street.
The shooting occurred at around 11 p.m. and allegedly stemmed from an altercation with the security guard.
Police said Carter was shot twice in the abdomen and was flown to UMMC where he died.
Two other people were shot but recovered from their injuries.
