“Take-Over” Pot Shop Robbery Disarms Security Guard
San Diego CA Aug 12 2017
The San Diego County sheriff’s department is investigating a “take-over” armed robbery of an “illegal” marijuana dispensary in Spring Valley where the security guard was attacked and disarmed.
Two armed subjects entered the dispensary near Bancroft Drive and Memory Lane just before 9 p.m. Friday and quickly attacked and disarmed the security guard before loading up on marijuana product.
This marijuana business is located amongst other businesses and restaurants in the neighborhood south of State Route 94 and east of State Route 125.
The robbery was reported by a passer-by, not by the staff of the business, Sgt. Kotaro Murashige said.
The two robbers forced their way in, disarmed a security guard and ordered employees to the ground.
It’s not known if any cash was taken.
The Sheriff’s Department says there has been a trend of similar dispensary robberies in which armed guards have been assaulted and disarmed and they are not a deterrent in robberies.
In some robberies staff members did not call law enforcement for help.
In some cases dispensary workers have refused to allow law enforcement to enter, deputies said.
There was little information about this robbery or the description of the suspects.
