Tampa police officer arrested at Seminole Hard Rock on disorderly conduct charge
TAMPA FL Sept 12 2018 — A Tampa police officer was arrested Monday morning at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Anthony Hamlin, 24, was arrested about 6:24 a.m. after he “became disruptive in the casino” by swearing and arguing, according to Gary Bitner, a spokesman for the Seminole Police Department. Security personnel escorted him to a parking garage where his disruptive behavior continued, Bitner said.
Further details of the incident were not available. Hamlin was later booked in Hillsborough County Jail and released just before noon after posting $250 bail.
Hamlin has been a Tampa police officer since October 2016. He was placed on paid administrative leave while the case is under investigation, police said.
He is the son of Marc Hamlin, who retired this year as assistant chief of operations after 28 years with the department. The father could not be reached Monday for comment.
Another son, Christopher Hamlin, was sentenced in April to 60 days in jail after admitting in a Tallahassee court to his role in the hazing death of a student at Florida State University.
The 20-year-old helped plan a party last November for the Pi Kappa Fi fraternity, at which a prospective member died of alcohol poisoning. Christopher Hamlin was one of five fraternity brothers to accept a plea deal.
