Taylor Swift’s security team nabs man with burglary tools
WESTERLY, RI July 26 2019— A man from Des Moines, Iowa, 32, who is on a watch list kept by Taylor Swift’s security forces, was arrested near the pop singer’s summer mansion in Watch Hill Friday.
While searching David Page Liddle’s backpack, officers found 30 tools for picking locks, as well as a crowbar and an aluminum bat.
He was charged Monday in District Court, South Kingston, with felony possession of burglary tools and carrying weapons other than firearms, a misdemeanor. Judge Madeline Quirk on Monday set bond at $10,000 with surety, meaning he could post $1,000 cash or property worth the full amount. Unable to post either form, he was sent to the intake center of the Adult Correctional Institutions.
Further conditions include that Liddle not have any contact with Swift and that he not trespass on any of her properties. His pretrial conference is set for Oct. 25.
The Westerly Sun reported that Liddle was seen lingering at a yacht club not far from the mansion where Swift throws her annual Fourth of July bash for celebrity friends.
According to the Sun, Liddle told police that Swift had agreed to help him break into the music business. Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey told the Sun that Liddle may have visited some of the star’s other properties.
Besides her beachfront house in Rhode Island, she has a penthouse in Nashville; a house in Los Angeles; and a large penthouse in New York City.
