Teenage robbery suspect shot, killed by security guard at north Harris County Walgreens
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas May 12 2019— A 16-year-old robbery suspect is dead after he was shot by a security officer late Saturday night at a Walgreens in north Harris County, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
His accomplice, an 18-year-old, was also shot by the security guard. He is stable and recovering in the hospital.
This happened at about midnight in the 1400 block of W FM 1960 Road.
Lt. Rush with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the security officer was walking around the Walgreens, doing surveillance, when he spotted the two suspects, wearing masks, about to walk inside of the store.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun when he approached the front door and that’s when the security guard pulled out his gun and yelled at the suspects.
The suspect pointed his gun at the security officer and that’s when the security guard started shooting at the both of them. The 16-year-old was shot multiple times. He collapsed on scene and was unresponsive when he was taken to the hospital.
He was later pronounced dead.
The 18-year-old suspect was shot in the calf but was able to get away. Deputies responding to the scene were able to see the suspect running and stop him in his tracks.
The suspect surrendered and admitted to deputies that he and his cousin were trying to rob the Walgreens.
The 18-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery.
