Teens steal $25K in goods from Mid-South Target
MEMPHIS, TN June 26 2018
Two teens are charged with breaking into a Mid-South Target.
Around 4:30 Monday morning at the Target off Highway 64 near Wolfchase, a security guard called police when he spotted three people inside the closed store.
When police arrived, they found a black pickup backed up to the entrance.
Officers discovered the front glass door was broken out, several cash registers were damaged, and cash was taken.
One Target shopper said she was not surprised by the burglary.
“There’s no fear with the teens these days, so I am not shocked,” Megan Jackson said.
Authorities said the suspects also broke several glass cases in the electronic department and stole video game consoles, smartphones, and televisions.
They drove off on Germantown Parkway but did not make it too far before crashing near Interstate 40. Some of the items were recovered in the pickup truck and others from a ditch behind the store.
Officers estimate the number of goods stolen to be worth about $25,000.
A 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were arrested and charged with burglary.
Target released a statement Monday saying:
“At Target, we are committed to creating a safe and secure shopping environment in our stores. As part of this commitment to safety, we have procedures, policies and trainings in place to ensure that our stores are safe places to shop and work. We are grateful for the support of local law enforcement and have provided them with video and images to help aid in their investigation.”
A third suspect is at large. If you know where they may be, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
