Texas hospital security officer helps deliver baby inside a car
THE WOODLANDS, Texas Jan 3 2021– The birth of Morgyn Chadwick and John Rizk’s second daughter did not go as planned.
Baby Imogen was born on December 20 in the parking lot of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, in the front seat of the house’s Subaru.
Chadwick said her contractions started that morning. She was in contact with her doctor and thought it was too early to get to the hospital, so she ran some errands.
But the couple found they were out of time hours later after picking up their two-year-old daughter, Olivia, from kindergarten.
They said the drive to the hospital during peak site visitors’ hours was chaotic, to say the least.
“Are we going on the freeway or are we staying on the manger?” Fortunately, we decided to stay on the feeder because the highway was crowded and it was a dead stop ” Rizk recalls.
They arrived at the hospital parking lot just in time.
“I’m in front, screaming from the pain and everything that’s going on. I felt really bad because my daughter, Olivia, was in the back. I could hear him there say, ‘I don’t like that. It’s loud, ”Morgyn said.
Security officer Miguel Rubio discovered them in the parking area and immediately called the hospital on his 2-way radio and got more help coming.
“I go on the radio and call dispatch. I tell them, ‘Hey, baby is coming. Let labor and delivery know they need to hurry” said Rubio.
Little Imogen was delivered three minutes after the parents arrived in the parking area. She was born with 6 pounds and 11 healthy ounces.
Chadwick said she wanted a natural birth and felt blessed that this had happened, and her husband was able to catch the baby.
Both mom and the newborn are doing just fine.
