Thief maces security guard, robs Tiffany’s store in Michigan
TROY, Mich. December 13 2018
A man who entered the Tiffany’s Store at the Somerset Collection wasn’t there to buy any Christmas presents or to put anything on layaway.
Nope. He was there for something much more cynical.
According to Troy police Lt. Josh Jones, the man entered the store at around 8:30 p.m. Monday with the motive of robbery.
Jones said he sprayed mace at a security guard, smashed a display case with a hammer, scooped up some high-end jewelry and ran.
Police said they don’t have a good description of the suspect but are using video from the mall.
Tiffany’s is still trying to put together an inventory and value of the items stolen.
Last week, thieves got away with about 150 diamond rings in a smash and grab at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township.
Police say there’s historically an uptick around the holidays, and to keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell a Tiffany’s diamond ring for a good deal.
