Threat to armored car prompts police situation in Arizona
SCOTTSDALE, AZ January 5 2020 Police say a bomb threat made west of the Loop 101 on Talking Stick Way near Scottsdale was “unfounded.”
Salt River police officers say the bomb threat was made to the staff of an armored truck at the Pavilions at Talking Stick.
The area around the alleged threat was evacuated for safety.
The Arizona’s Family News Chopper flew over the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. From the air, we could see an armored car at the scene; an unknown package was spotted near the vehicle. Police units appeared to be keeping their distance.
At around 4:30 p.m., Salt River Police said that after a thorough investigation, the threat was determined to be “unfounded.”
But during the investigation, the area of Talking Stick Way between Pima Road and the 101 freeway ramps had been closed to traffic.
That led to heavy congestion in the late afternoon and during rush hour. Drivers were urged to avoid that area into the evening hours.
