Three Arrested In Plot To Rob and Kill Armored Truck Security Officers
MARTIN COUNTY FL MAR 2 2018
A two-year plot to rob two armored bank vehicles and murder the security guards ended in high movie-like drama on Interstate 95 in Martin County at around 9 am on February 20th.
Three suspects plotting to commit the violent robbery were arrested just hours before they could pull off the deadly heist, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Federal agents from the FBI’s Safe Street Task Force were part of the dramatic takedown of the three suspects accused of plotting the violent robbery of an armored bank vehicle scheduled to pick up millions of dollars.
According to a federal affidavit, the group had planned to rob an armored truck picking up a large bank run from the PNC Bank in the 1300 block of Southwest Gatlin Boulevard in Port St. Lucie.
The suspects mapped out a plan to steal millions of dollars before shooting and killing the two employees in the truck.
Once that was successful, the suspects planned to carry out a second deadly robbery targeting another armored bank car, the affidavit said.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office released footage from their air units of the suspects being surrounded by a fleet of law enforcement officers on I-95 just south of the SR 714 exit.
The special operation spanned from Palm Beach County to St. Lucie County.
Suspects were identified as Daryl “Doo-Doo” Canady, Alger “Al” Lee Ellison and Martiavius “Man” Leon Williams. All three are from Palm Beach County.
The suspects remain in federal custody.
