Three charged with stealing items worth $6,000 from Elmhurst Kohl’s

Three people are facing multiple burglary and felony theft charges after allegedly taking about $6,000 worth of merchandise from the Kohl’s store in Elmhurst Feb. 15.
Victor Williams, 30, of the 2600 block of East 77th Street, Chicago; Joshlyn Allen, 19, of the 7600 block of South Yates Boulevard, Chicago; and Emiaya Shannon, 22, of the 500 block of 77th Avenue, Merrillville, Ind., reportedly entered the store at 303 S. Route 83 at 5:18 p.m., put the merchandise including Nike and Adidas clothing in Kohl’s shopping bags and fled.
The trio eluded Elmhurst police who tried to stop their car in the Kohl’s parking lot, police said.
Following a high-speed chase which included use of a helicopter and a collision with a Chicago Police Department squad car, they were taken into custody in Chicago, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.
The trio drove to the Kohl’s store after first allegedly stealing some $4,000 worth of beauty items from the Ulta Beauty store in Danada Square in Wheaton, according to the release.
Allen, Shannon and Williams were all charged with counts of retail theft involving possession of displayed merchandise. Williams was also charged with aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, fleeing and eluding a police officer in motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended license, according to the release.
All three were taken to DuPage County Jail with bonds ranging from $50,000 for Allen and Shannon to $350,000 for Williams.
A juvenile was charged with counts of burglary and retail theft and taken to Kane County Juvenile Detention Center.
The three adult defendants are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment March 16.
