Tower of London sacks four security guards for showing off their ‘crown jewels’ in explicit WhatsApp video
London England January 1 2019
Four security guards at the Tower of London have been fired after exposing themselves in explicit X-rated WhatsApp videos.
Sniffer dogs were called to the Tower amid fears staff were snorting cocaine just yards from where the £5billion jewels are kept.
Six of the staff were suspended and four have been dismissed from their roles after material from WhatsApp group ‘Tower Security Team’ was handed over to bosses.
Among some of the sensitive material shared in the group includes a ten-second video of two men mimicking a sex act in an office as Marvin Gaye’s hit single Sexual Healing plays in the background.
In another clip, one of the pair wearing a hi-vis jacket pretends to spank his friend over a leather sofa.
A search was carried out after memes about cocaine were posted on the WhatsApp group.
A sniffer dog is said to have ‘shown interest’ in the changing rooms although no sign of illegal substances were found, The Sun reports.
The six suspended workers are not Yeomen Warders but were employed by the Historic Royal Palaces.
They have defended their actions, insisting the memes were ‘silly banter’. They also deny claims of bullying female staff, saying the jokes were taken out of context.
A source said: ‘The men have asked bosses to drug test them and even suggested paying for their own private test to prove their innocence.
‘One was devastated to have to tell his mum he had been sacked and about the allegations.
‘He’s worked since age 15 with no record of any bad behaviour. All of them plan to appeal.’
A Tower spokesman said: ‘We can confirm six members of the perimeter security team were suspended.
‘We have since conducted a thorough internal investigation, resulting in the dismissal of four staff.
‘Their conduct was unacceptable and does not represent our values.’
