Tribal security officers aid deputy getting wanted fugitive in custody
LEMOORE, Calif. Sept 14 2021 A woman with four active warrants was hauled back to the Kings County Jail after a wild encounter with deputies.
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy patrolling around 17th Avenue and Jersey Avenue in Lemoore tried to pull over a woman driving a U-Haul recklessly. The deputy says the loading ramp was also dragging behind the truck, not properly attached, and nearly hit several other cars.
When the driver, 38-year-old Amanda Hulett finally pulled the U-Haul over, the deputy says she became confrontational, screaming and fighting as the deputy tried to get her in handcuffs.
The Sheriff’s Office says a crowd gathered and started recording the incident, yelling and cursing at the deputy. FOX26 News has not yet obtained video of the incident.
Tribal Security Officers finally helped to get Hulett in custody.
It turned out, she had four active warrants out for her arrest for bringing a controlled substance into a jail or prison, auto theft, being, under the influence of a controlled substance, and battery against a spouse.
She was taken to jail for those charges, along with the new ones of resisting arrest, obstructing an executive officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A judge set her bail at $180,000.
The deputy who she fought with was hurt but is going to be okay.
