TSA agents find gun-shaped toilet paper roller in bag at Newark Airport
NEWARK, N.J. Nov 2 2019Â Transportation Security Administration agents at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty Airport uncovered a more decorative than deadly item when they checked a passenger’s carry-on.
After a man’s carry-on bag entered the checkpoint X-ray machine on Tuesday, a TSA officer spotted what they thought was a revolver.
TSA needed to get to the bottom of it, and when the bag was opened, the item that had triggered an alarm wasn’t an actual firearm at all.
Instead, it was a realistic replica gun that had been configured into a toilet paper roller.
Travelers are not permitted to bring real or replica firearms through security checkpoints.
TSA says it gave the man the option to place it in a checked bag, hand it off to a companion or surrender it.
He decided to give it to TSA.
