TSA CONFISCATES 71 FIREARMS, GRENADES, NINJA STARS IN 6 DAYS
NATIONWIDE March 27 2018 – Over a six-day period, the Transportation Security Administration confiscated a total of 71 firearms in addition to grenades and ninja stars found in carry-on bags nationwide.
From March 12 through 18, of the 71 firearms found 66 were loaded with travelers attempting to bring them through security.
One of the oddest items, according to the TSA, was an inert mortar; a possible military explosive. Security warns that anytime an explosive is found, the airport can be completely shut down and evacuated until investigated.
Travelers bringing weapons on planes can receive a civil penalty up to $13,066 per violation.
To travel with a firearm, the TSA said you must first declare each weapon you have and place them into checked bags. The firearm must also be unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container.
Other found items include:
Replica firearms
BB guns
Brass knuckles
Batons
Stun guns
Pocket knifes
Ammunition
