Tucson security guard who fired shots at DES client has been arrested
TUCSON AZ March 18 2018Â – The Tucson Police Department is investigating a security guard shooting that happened Thursday, March 16, 2018, at the Department of Economic Security Building.
The security guard was identified as 30-year-old Mahmood Almuwali, and was arrested Friday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits, according to a report.
Detectives say they learned an adult male client was inside the building and became upset with staff and raised his voice.  Staff requested a security guard, and Almuwali told the client to leave and escorted him outside.
According to a report, the client went to his vehicle and Almuwali followed.
As the client attempted to drive away Almuwali shot at the client. The client then drove to a nearby apartment complex and called 911.
No one was injured in the shooting, which happened around 1:45 p.m. in a parking lot outside the building, which is located in the 1400 block of South Alvernon Way.
Almuwali has been transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
Detectives are asking anyone that witnessed the incident to contact 88-CRIME.
