Two Canadian police officers shot to death
Fredericton Canada Aug 10 2018 Canadian police report that two of the four people killed in an apartment shooting Friday morning in Fredericton, New Brunswick were police officers, and that the suspect has been taken into custody.
Fredericton Police tweeted Friday, Aug. 10 that there are not releasing names in this “difficult time,” and that they will release more information down the line. CBC News reports the area at 237 Brookside Drive in the province’s capital city was evacuated before 9 a.m., and that eyewitnesses said dozens of shots were fired after 7 a.m. Friday.
In its latest update, police report that the suspect is alive and in custody but is currently being treated for serious injuries suffered in Friday morning’s incident.
“Of the four people killed in this morning’s shootings on Brookside Drive, two were Fredericton Police officers,” the police department tweeted.
“No names are being released at this time. Please appreciate this is a difficult time for their families and our colleagues. We will provide more info when we can.”
The incident represents a rare act of gun violence in the eastern Canadian city.
Police continue to have the Brookside area contained for the foreseeable future as the investigation is ongoing.

Justin McLean, who lives in the complex where the shooting occurred, told CBC News that he woke up to gunshots and looked outside his window to see a gruesome scene.
“I just woke up and heard gunshots and I looked outside my window,” he told the outlet. “There was basically three dead people laying there. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
“The cops were trying to put one of the officers into the vehicle so they could take him out to safety.”
