Two Madison WS. security officers assaulted-1 person arrested
Madison WS Feb 10 2018 A man who refused to leave an East Side hotel early Thursday morning was arrested after he allegedly punched two security guards, one possibly suffering a concussion.
David Harris, 35, Stanley, Wis., was tentatively charged with battery, disorderly conduct, unlawful trespass and resisting/obstructing, Madison police said.
The incident happened at about 2:45 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 4402 E. Washington Ave.
“Harris was loitering in the hotel lobby for several hours while making statements like ‘I would feel safer if I had my gun’ to the desk clerk,” said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
He told staff he didn’t have enough money for a room, and when he tried to get to an elevator, was stopped by security guards, who he allegedly punched repeatedly.
“He told an arresting officer ‘Those security guards are lucky I didn’t get their guns,'” DeSpain said.
