Two NY security officers seriously injured during confrontation
Newark NY Ang 15 2018 Village police are investigating a fight in the parking lot of Tommy Boy’s about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 11. Christler said the fight started between two customers.
When security officers tried to break up the fight, Christler said one of the officers, Devin Hall, was hit on the head with an unknown object. When police arrived, multiple people were fighting in the parking lot but fled when police — Newark officers, state troopers and sheriff’s deputies — arrived on the scene.
Christler said phones and video, broken beer bottles and one knife have been secured as police try to identify the assailants.
He said two security guards, Hall and Zachary Powell, were treated for serious injuries at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Christler added that one other person is known to have been injured and is believed to have gone to the Geneva General Hospital emergency room.
“Patrons have not been cooperative as police continue this investigation,” he said.
