Two security guards shot dead during attempted robbery in St Mary
St Mary Jamaica Dec 9 2017 Police have launched a manhunt for gunmen who shot and killed two security guards in Annotto Bay, St Mary early Friday morning.
The deceased men have been identified as: 52-year-old Vincent Walsh of Crooked River in Annotto Bay, St Mary and 40-year-old Cleve Grant of Buff Bay, Portland.
A third security guard was injured in the incident and remains hospitalised.
All three were employed to the Marksman security company.
It is alleged that at about 12:30 am, all three security guards were on duty at the D&G drinks company on Fort George Road, when sometime later Grant could not be found.
Walsh and the other security guard went in search of him, when they came under heavy gunfire.
The police were later alerted to the scene and on their arrival, Walsh was found lying face down in a pool of blood at the rear of the compound.
Meanwhile, Grant’s body was discovered outside near the perimeter fencing on the compound with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
The other security guard was grazed by a gunshot wound to the left leg. He remains hospitalised.
Police said that robbery is a possible motive at this time. They are appealing to anyone with information on the incident to assist the police.
The murder tally for the parish now stands at 21, when compared to 29 for the same period last year.
