TWO SECURITY OFFICERS CHARGED WITH MURDER
Charlotte NC Feb 28 2018
Two more security officers have been charged with murder for shootings that occurred over the week-end.
A security officer in New York City guard a construction site shot and killed a man that he believed was up to no good and going to burglarize or steal from the property.
NYPD say that the security guard was not licensed to carry a firearm and had no reason to use force against the man.
Police do not believe that the victim of the shooting committed any crime.
Police in California have charged a nightclub security guard there with Murder in the First Degree, Two Counts of Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Firearm By A Convicted Felon.
The guard, 41-year-old John Gilbert Mendoza of Montebello, pleaded not guilty to all charges during his Tuesday arraignment at Downey Superior Court, according to a court official.
His next court date is March 27 for a hearing at Norwalk Superior Court.
The weekend shooting outside a La Mirada bar left one man dead and a woman wounded started with an argument between a security guard and one of the victims, a detective said Tuesday.
Lt. John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department alleged Mendoza shot a 25-year-old Pico Rivera woman and fatally shot 30-year-old Adrian Anthony Quesada of Ontario in the parking lot of the Sportman’s Lounge in La Mirada at 12:55 a.m. Saturday.
Corina said the woman and Quesada were at the bar at 13902 Imperial Highway then stepped out of the business. He said Mendoza, who was working as a security guard, wouldn’t let the couple back into the bar.
Mendoza argued with the woman at the door.
“They know each other,” Corina said, adding that the argument was over a past dispute. The woman and Quesada decided to leave.
“As they were walking to the car, that’s when the security guard followed them,” Corina said. “The guard starts shooting at the woman.”
The woman, who was hit in the lower body, collapsed in the parking lot.
