Two security officers shot on movie set
Boston MA Oct 7 2017 Boston police arrested two men in the shooting of two security officers working on the Roxbury set of a Denzel Washington movie last week, police said.
The security officers were on the set of the sequel to Washington’s “Equalizer” movie near Whittier Street when they were struck by gunfire on Saturday, said police spokesman Lt. Detective Michael McCarthy.
“After a complete and thorough investigation, officers were able to later learn and ascertain the identities of the suspects wanted in connection to the shooting,” police said.
“Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, along with members of the Quincy Police Department, located and arrested the suspects in Quincy.”
Dionte Martinez, 18, of Boston and Thomas Perkins, 18, of Quincy are both charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
The shooting happened about 12:53 a.m. When police arrived at Whittier Street they found a 40-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man wounded by gunfire.
The woman appeared to have been struck while she was exiting her car.
Both were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries and have since been treated and released, police said.
Police said that they do not know why the security officers were targeted.
