TX Security Officers Shoot-Kill 3 People In 48 Hrs.
Houston TX Oct 20 2017
There have been three fatal shootings involving security officers in Texas over the past 48 hrs.
All of the shootings remain under investigation and are being submitted to a grand jury.
In the most recent shooting, a security officer shot and killed a man inside a northwest Houston nightclub Wednesday.
According to officers, the shooting was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. at the Casanova Men’s Club in the 2000 block of Antoine. Police said a man came into the business swinging a cane and threatening a security and customers.
Witnesses told police that the man got into a fight with a couple of people inside the club. Investigators said the security guard said he tried to intervene as the man was biting a customer. The security officer said he feared for his life and the safety of others, so he shot the man, who was pronounced dead inside the nightclub. His name has not been released.
Police are reviewing surveillance video from inside the nightclub.
No charges have been filed against the security guard at this time but he case is expected to be presented to a grand jury, Houston police said.
A shooting in Dallas also left a man dead. Police said that there was an armed confrontation and a security fired one shot killing the man.
Police said they are still investigating this shooting but that it looks to be a case of self-defense.
And police in Arlington TX also report that a security officer there shot and killed a man during a bar confrontation.
The killing of the 25-year-old Arlington man outside a bar off I-30 on Sunday stemmed from an altercation and shooting earlier at another spot down the road, the bar manager said Tuesday.
Police have now determined that Danquwan Thompson was shot in the parking lot of Speed’s Billiards about 1 a.m. by an armed security guard after Thompson pointed a gun at him, according to manager Ryan Snyder. Another man was also inured.
Snyder said there had been a shooting earlier at a bar about three miles away and that some of those involved ended up at his bar.
He said he and the security guard are cooperating with police and that he feels sympathy for all involved.
