TX teen charged with assaulting high school security officer
BELTON, Texas Sept 11 2018 A Belton High School student was jailed Monday in lieu of $85,000 bond charged with assault on a public servant and assault causing bodily injury after a school security officer was pushed.
Cartha Martel Speed, 18, of Temple, was arrested Friday in connection with the Aug. 29 incident at the school.
The victim, who told police he was wearing a shirt that identified him as a school security guard, was in a golf cart on campus on Aug. 29 when he spotted Speed “cursing at a teacher,” an arrest warrant affidavit says.
The security officer said Speed “leaned into the golf cart and pushed him while cussing at him.”
The security officer then got out of the car and “Speed pushed him again before walking into the front office of the school,” the affidavit said.
