University of Kentucky Police and Security Officers bring gifts to children at hospital
LEXINGTON, Ky. May 14 2017 Patients at Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington had some surprise visitors on Friday, and they brought gifts.
University of Kentucky Police and Security Officers, wearing superhero capes, brought stuffed animals, coloring books and Junior Officer sticker badges to the children.
It’s the first year for this program.
“This was important because this is a part of our community and we want our community to know we’re involved and we value them and we value their opinions and we want to be there when they’re in need.
So this is one of those times when families are in need and we can actually come and be a support to them,” said UK Police Officer Amy Boatman.
The toys came from the ‘Hope Project,’ which began in January of this year, and has already raised more than 1,000 toys.
