Valley View Casino & Hotel security and manager honored for lifesaving event
Valley Center CA Jan 23 2018
A ceremony was held on Tuesday, January 8 to honor three team members at Valley View Casino & Hotel for saving the life of a casino guest who began choking in October of 2017.
The team consisted of Black & Blue Manager Luis Dominguez, Security Corporal Tre Harper and Security Officer TJ Albergo. All three team members received certificates and medals during the ceremony held in the casino’s Event Center.
The ceremony noted the efforts of team members that came to the rescue of a guest who began choking while dining in the steakhouse on October 6, 2017.
When the team members responded, the guest was unable to breathe and a food item had caused a complete airway blockage.
The team members immediately began abdominal thrusts which allowed oxygen to pass long enough for paramedics to arrive and dislodge the item.
“Without our EMT training program here at Valley View Casino & Hotel, it is likely that we would not have had the great outcome we did that day,” said Boyd Long, vice president of security at Valley View Casino & Hotel.
“The coordination and training of everyone involved was paramount in saving this guest’s life. We are so grateful that our team members were present to help.”
“As both Vice President of Human Resources and a San Pasqual tribal member, I’m incredibly proud of the training we offer to all of our team members here at Valley View Casino & Hotel. While we offer many benefits and instruction for all team members, perhaps none is more important than our EMT training,” said Judy Wright.
“We are happy to see our EMT training continually being provided throughout the year.”
