Ventura man charged in stabbing of security officer
VENTURA, Calif. Aug 7 2017 – A man was arrested late Friday evening after police say he stabbed a security guard during an altercation outside of a Ventura bar.
The incident took place just before midnight outside of Rookie’s Sports Bar.
Police arrived and found the security guard suffering from a single stab wound to the torso. The injury was not believed to be life threatening, but the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Officers searched the area and located the suspect several blocks away near a parking structure.
The suspect was identified as Jaime Vazquez, 29, of Santa Paula. Vazquez was arrested without incident.
Bar security told police that Vazquez and the security guard got into a verbal argument regarding line cutting outside of the bar.
The argument got physical and that’s when Vazquez reportedly stabbed the security guard. Vazquez and a group of friends fled the area on foot following the stabbing.
A second person was located by police but was not detained.
Vazquez was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail. He could face possible charges for assault with a deadly weapon.
